What is the best option for your nails?

Here at Painted, if you would like some colour on your fingernails, we provide 3 options:

  • Regular Nail Polish

  • Gel Polish (commonly known as shellac)

  • BIAB (Builder in a bottle).

We understand that it can be confusing to understand the different options, so we have detailed their differences and why each type could be ideal for you.

Dazzle Dry, our regular nail polish option - This polish air dries in 5 minutes and can be removed by using acetone. Dazzle Dry polish typically lasts 7+ days on hands and around 4+ weeks on toes. This is great for people that like to switch up their nail colour often, or are looking to have a break from gel polish and enjoy being able to remove the polish themselves.

Gel Polish - This polish is cured under UV/LED lamps and can last 2 to 3 weeks. It is more chip resistant than normal polish and retains a lovely, glossy shine. To safely remove it, you will need to go to a salon to get a professional to remove it. We do not recommend picking, peeling or removing the gel polish yourself at home. At Painted, we take care in removing gel polish to limit any potential damage to the nail bed. Our process involves e-filing the top layers of the gel off and soaking in acetone.

BIAB (Builder in a Bottle) - This service is the most detail oriented, it is applied to the nail to provide structure and support to the natural nail. This is a great choice for people who would like to grow their natural nails but find that their nails brittle.

Unlike Gel Polish, BIAB does not need to be removed and reapplied, when the nail grows out we can infill the nail. During an infill service, we will debulk the BIAB by filing, prepare the nail that has grown out and then reapply the BIAB. This process limits the needs for soaking in acetone which can weaken the nail. Unlike the 2 other options, this service at Painted is only for fingernails.

  • BIAB tips - If you would like to have longer nails instantly, this service is for you. The nail length is extended using BIAB and they can be infilled like a normal BIAB manicure.

Bare nails is also an option!

Opting for a Refresh mani or pedi can transform your hands and feet without the need for colour.
