What is BIAB (Builder in a bottle)
BIAB is similar to gel polish but is glossy and thicker. It is applied like a gel polish and cured under a UV lamp. A salon-only product, BIAB gives natural nails a tough, snap-resistant coating, also known as an overlay.
BIAB has a stronger base, this is why it assists nail growth.
Any gel (shellac) colour can be applied over the top of the BIAB colour.
-
What is a BIAB Infill?
Another plus with BIAB is infills.
When your nail bed grows, you will notice a gap between the start of your nail (near the cuticle) and where the BIAB appears.
Instead of removing the BIAB gel completely (like removing Shellac), we only remove the top layer. This allows us to "infill" where the gap in your nail bed is.
We also remove any lifting that may have occured.
This means less polish is removed, no acetone is required leading to healthier nails!

Is there parking near the salon?
Situated in the heart of Darlinghurst, there is surprisingly quite a bit of street parking available close to the salon.
The nearest train stations are Kings Cross to the east, or Museum Station in the CBD.
The salon is also located in between William Street and Oxford Street where many buses are available.

What type of polish brands do you use?
At Painted, we only use quality products for all our services including The Gel Bottle (for gel/shellac), fast-drying, chip-resistant Dazzle Dry polish.
We use Footlogix products as part of our waterless pedicure services. Footlogix products promote healthy skin function and facilitate healing, leaving your feet feeling smooth and hydrated!

What is a waterless pedicure
A “soak-free“ pedicure skips the traditional soaking, minimising any risk of cross-contamination or waterborne pathogens. Waterless pedicures are also a great service for people with diabetes since foot soaking isn't recommended.
Since you are not soaking, you will be surprised at how long your polish will last. This is because your nails are not expanding when drenched in water.
A waterless pedicure is also better for the environment, reducing water consumption.
“Soaking actually ‘bloats‘ the nail, compromising the polish adhesion. A soakless (dry) manicure is the best cure for chipping nails!”

What is your cancellation policy?
In the event of a cancellation, reschedule or no-show within 12 hours of your booking, the full treatment value will be payable.
-
What is Dazzle Dry polish?
Dazzle Dry nail polish is a fast-drying, non-toxic natural nail polish that dries in 5 minutes. It is applied the same way as normal nail polish (no UV or LED curing needed). The polish is longer lasting than regular polish (it should last up to 7 days chip free).
Dazzle Dry is available at Painted for both manicures and pedicures in a range of curated colours.
As the polish dries in 5 minutes, choosing this an option saves you time! -
Do you cater for groups bookings?
We can cater for group bookings of up to 8 people. If you are looking for a nail salon for your next big event, wedding, bridal party, hens or big birthday, we can cater for your nails at Painted.
Please email info@paintednails.com.au to discuss!
-
Do you offer nail art?
We offer a range of nail art in our salon. From simple, chic french tips to more intricate nail designs including blooming gel and drawings, our nail techs are capable of executing any design.
-
Can you add gel polish ontop of BIAB?
Absolutely. Any gel colour can be applied on top of your BIAB polish.
When your nails are ready for a BIAB infill (we generally recommend every 3-4 weeks) we remove the gel polish colour as part of this service.
You can then choose to either have regular BIAB colour or choose a gel colour to go on top.
-
How long should BIAB last?
Typical BIAB longevity
2–3 weeks: Ideal wear time before regrowth becomes noticeable
Up to 4 weeks: Possible for some clients with very good nail care and slower growth
1–2 weeks: Usually indicates lifting, damage, or lifestyle factors
Signs it’s time for an infill
2–3 mm regrowth at the cuticle
Product starting to lift at the base
Shape becoming unbalanced from nail growth
Things can that affect retention
Previous acrylic wear (natural nail plate can be weakened for a few sets). It may take a couple of infills more frequently than expected due to the natural nail bed health and recovery from acrylic nail polish.
Nail prep quality
Client lifestyle (cleaning chemicals, gym, picking, biting, hands in water frequently)
Very oily nail plates
Post-partum hormones (can affect adhesion)
Our salon expectation and policy:
At Painted we have a 7-day fix policy for lifting or breakages, because anything earlier than that is usually considered a product issue rather than normal wear.

BIAB Retention & Maintenance
BIAB Retention & Maintenance
BIAB manicures are designed to last around 2–3 weeks before needing an infill. This timeframe is based on normal nail growth and helps maintain the strength, balance and appearance of the manicure.
Some clients may get longer wear, but we recommend booking infills within 2–3 weeks to avoid lifting, breakages or imbalance as the natural nail grows.
If any lifting or breakage occurs within 7 days of your appointment, please contact us and we will happily fix it. After this period, wear and tear is usually due to natural nail growth, lifestyle factors or daily use.
For best retention:
• Avoid picking or peeling
• Wear gloves for cleaning and chemicals
• Use cuticle oil daily
• Book regular infills every 2–3 weeksAnd remember, treat your nails as jewels not tools
